Cooking

Okay, last night I decided to use some of the herbs from the garden for dinner (I am not a great cook, but I try every now and again). Well I had lean hamburger meat thawed and I did not want to make spaghetti again, so burgers it was. I pulled some regular basil, thai basil and some chives. I chopped those together and mixed in with ground meat along with garlic powder, onion powder, mrs. dash, and cracked black pepper (these 4 ingredients are my main staples). I put them on my grill pan and put the burgers together with some spring mixed lettuce, red onions, tomatoes, all on sourdough bread. Man it was good and the family liked it. Next time I make it I will take a picture. You should try it. What next......

Quilts For Charity

Completed 2 quilts for charity...

I created the light color quilt out of scraps from the donations to the group.

The darker checkered one was a put together by another volunteer as a very large top and I cut in half, pieced the borders and put it together.

They will be delivered tomorrow and on to do more. I am very proud of myself.

Hail Storm

I started growing a vegetable garden this Spring and I must say it is going quite well. The cilantro, rosemary and various types of basil are awesome. We tried the white/red onions and arugula last night and they were quite good. My green beans (from seeds mind you) have sprouted and I can't wait to incorporate the trellis so they can grow high and yield a nice crop. My cucumber plant did not do so well because of the 2 hail storms back to back that we had, so I purchased seeds and they have sprouted. I purchased an upside down tomato planter and put to plants inside, not sure if they will grow (last year in a regular planter, I got one marble sized tomato). Pictures to come.

Ann Randall/Chairty Craft Volunteer Network

I am a proud volunteer with Ann Randall at the Charity Craft Volunteer Network. Her site is located here: http://www.charitycraftcenter.org/index.html

You can also find her on Meetup.com http://www.meetup.com/Community-Knitting-Group/

And here...http://www.austinstitchingstudio.com/main.htm

It is great to give back and Ann and her organization make it so easy and worth while. I did not know how to make a quilt and now I am making quilts for the group. I even pulled my husband in to help with stuffing pillows and my (13) daughter help sewing them close by hand.

Come join in the fun if you don't know how to sew, knit, whatever she will hook you up with someone who does so that you too can contribute.
